My Story

Growing up in El Paso, Texas, I always knew I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to be a catalyst for change in my community and beyond. This passion led me to pursue a B.A. in Government with a minor in Communication and Social Change at the University of Texas at Austin. My college journey has been an exciting exploration of how communication can shape political discourse and create meaningful change.
My interest in politics was a culmination of the pandemic and current events — it truly fast-tracked my passion for social justice and advocacy. Despite the challenging time, I recognized the urgent need for engagement in politics and policy, especially in borderland communities.
College further deepened my understanding of the gaps in accessible information within my community. I came to see how the intentional design of systems creates barriers to equitable access. Politics should be accessible: easy to understand and easy to engage with. Through my experiences, I’ve witnessed the power that media and communication hold to dismantle these barriers and empower communities.
During my internship with Raise Your Hand Texas, I developed a growing interest in public education. The intersection of public education and communications has inspired me to think critically about how advocacy can transform not just individual lives, but entire systems. From crafting compelling messages to creating accessible content, I’m dedicated to leveraging communication as a tool for progress and equity.
